An Operation of Cooperation A Sami and Thomas Adventure James McDonald 9780988659865 Books
This is a great read aloud book that address the importance of empathy between siblings, without being preachy or sappy. The fanciful illustrations (I LOVE the floating tree islands!) and bright colours add to the story. The expressions on the children's and even the pets' faces will help parents discuss "how do you think Sami/Thomas/the Cat is feeling" with younger children while older children will appreciate the characters' brainstorming and problem solving. All in all, this is a worthwhile book to add to any family's collection, and I heartily recommend it.Product details

An Operation of Cooperation A Sami and Thomas Adventure James McDonald 9780988659865 Books Reviews
What a feat ebook this is! to help kids learn how to work together as a team and as friends and not enemies. Wonderful illustrations too!
Therefore I wish to recommend this for five stars and for. kids 3-11. I received this book (paperback) for free in exchange for an honest
review. Great work! By Angela
What a nicely done little children's book this one is with a fantastic message which in not delivered in a "preachy" mode....how refreshing!
Briefly; a brother and sister are having problem with cooperation and have a bit of a tiff going on which their wise mother overhears. She sets the two rather typical youngsters down and tells them a story.
The world is made up of small floating islands in the sky - rather pretty little islands and two of them have a child on them; one a boy, another a girl. They become friends and decide it would be nice if they could get together and play. Because of the distance of the floating islands they find; after some discussion that they will be forced to cooperate with each giving a little of them selves and making some compromises in order to get their two islands linked together.
This is a well told little tale with rather unique illustrations which will delight the eye with their details. Like another reviewer here, I loved the expression on the character's faces and the islands had a certain dream like quality to them.
This is a wonderful read-aloud book for a group as each illustration is quite easy to see and the colors pop from the pages. The rhyming text has a rather hypnotic effect and will captivate little ears.
I highly recommend this on. It would seem that here are follow-up books to this one and if they are of the same quality as the one being reviewed here then I am sure they will be a welcome addition to any children's collection of books.

I read this book to my son and daughter who argue a lot and I really adored it. After the book I pointed out how adulthood can be like floating islands and they will want to be sure to remain friends so they are not on their islands alone. We were all very moved.
"In a place far away No two people could play, For they all lived on islands alone..." Crisp, computer graphics and an excellent message about working together to solve problems. The only glitch I noticed was a formatting issue where anytime I wanted to start at the beginning of the book I had to click back manually from whence I was dropped in at the middle of the story. Overall, a very good book!
