I was intrigued by this series and decided to take a chance on reading the first, although after the reviews, I didn't think it would be the best. I was forewarned that the H was going to be a bit of an ass and he was. I particularly didn't like the way he used and betrayed the h but later wasn't happy when she tried to manage things in a way that didn't suit him. He was hurt and an utter hypocrite about it, since it was absolutely fine for him to do something similar. Other than that I loved the idea of the 'inferno' and enjoyed it enough to buy book 2.

I can't say how much I LOVE this series. It's fun, sexy, and with lots of twist and turns that keep you wondering if they will be able to find their HEA at the end. A very enjoyable read that will keep you wanting more.
Severo Dante never believed his grandfather when, as a youngster, his grandfather told him that when the woman for him comes into his life, he will know it. Dismissing those words as the ponderings of an old man, Severo pretty much forgot what his grandfather told him. That is, until he comes face to face with a woman at a jewelry show and spends the night with her. With the light of day, one simple phone call from Severo's brother changes everything. Apparently, the woman with whom he just spent the night is a rival company's premier jewelry designer.

Francesca Sommers is the newest and brightest designer for Timeless Heirlooms. She is also carrying a secret - a secret that could break up a marriage. Walking on egg shells because of this, Francesca does her best not to make waves. All that changes when she meets Severo. Spending the night with him is a dream come true, but when the night ends and morning begins, Francesca finds herself floundering at the feelings Severo has awakened. Then, to make matters worse, he finds out exactly who she is and where she works.

Day Leclaire has hooked me with DANTE'S BLACKMAILED BRIDE, the first book of a series titled, The Dante Legacy. Severo Dante was almost unnerved by the emotions and depth of feelings he felt for Francesca, especially since she was a rival jewelry designer. Willing to take her any way he could get her, Severo's scheme almost backfired. But there's just something about dominant men that makes my heart pound.

DANTE'S BLACKMAILED BRIDE is an entertaining and often times sensual read. I winced at Severo's audacity at times but found myself smiling when he and Francesca finally admitted their love. Talk about fate. Day Leclaire is now firmly on my Silhouette Desire auto buy list and I am anxiously awaiting the release of Marco's story, DANTE'S STOLEN BRIDE.
It would seem it depends on how the individual looks at it. Dante's Inferno is something that runs in the Dante family. It happens once they touch their soul mate and once it starts it never stops they have to make the other person theirs! It acts as though an electrical shock between the two individuals and strengthens between them with their shared touch. To deny it brings nothing but suffering but to accept brings untold joy with your soul mate! Severo Dante didn't believe his grandfather about Dante's Inferno when he was younger but now he experiences it. He is a bit put off that the one woman that incites this feeling in him is the one that he needs to lure to his jewelry business so that he can force the other jeweler that she works for to sale their business. Severo is trying to reacquire the family businesses that he was forced to sale years ago to protect the main business. He needs Francesca Sommers, the up and coming jewelry designer, to join his company. Francesca wants to stay at the jewelers she is working for as the man is her father. But Kurt doesn't realize that he is her father and neither does his wife, Tina.

Francesca and Severo hook up pretty quickly because of Dante's Inferno but that just made the story seem to sizzle more. When Sev finds out her identity he blackmails her to come and work for him. But he doesn't think things through very well as she is then forced to pay some unforeseen repercussions. She's not too happy about what he did or the fact that she is forced to betray her father. Francesca believes she has found a way to save face with her family but her plan ends up making Sev feel betrayed. They end up working it out of course, but then you knew that.

Kurt, Francesca's father, breaks her heart when he denies her and doesn't want anything to do with her wishing that she never existed as she is a reminder of his infidelity. Tina has already discovered Francesca's identity and isn't too happy, in fact she pretty much says that Francesca is just a constant reminder of her husband's cheating on her all those years ago. She believes that they don't even need Francesca's designs as she, Tina, is the creative designer of the jewelry store. Yet we are told how inept she is and it was just dumb luck that they hired Francesca. Because if it weren't for her designs the business would have collapsed sooner and this is the reason Sev needs Francesca to leave them and work for his company . . . she's just that good! I didn't like that Sev had to blackmail Francesca, but he really wasn't malicious about it and I felt he was a decent guy at heart. Her forgiveness of his relocating her and leaving her in limbo for two months deserved more of an apology from him. Yes she did something that could have risked his company gaining the other jewelry store, but that seemed a bit harsh as he wasn't the perfect little angel either. Then the whole coming together of her father and stepmom . . . that was just a little too much and a bit too convenient. I felt as though Sev blackmailed them into accepting her and it didn't sit right with me. Otherwise the story was a good read with not a lot of angst.
This is the first in the Dante's series. I read this one after I'd read the others, so I knew what to expect. The story was good, and the twists it took were interesting. I would recommend reading this one first, before going to the other three in the series.
Dante's Blackmailed Bride (Silhouette Desire) The hero did not DISPLAY the love this book said he had for this woman. He did everything HE wanted for HIS reasons with no care or regard for her life or feelings--though he knew what they were. I won't bother getting into details about the book since other reviewers described the story. I obviously don't agree with their rave reviews.
